BAM

My roommate had two tickets to attend a show at the BAM harvey theatre. BAM, is located in downtown Brooklyn, its the oldest operating performing arts center. The program we saw was called "The Tempest", it's a play by William Shakespeare. Yes, I must admit I was confused in the beginning of the play just because I never read nor heard about this particular play. As the play progressed it definitely got easier to understand what was going on.

Theatre attire for the night:

Oversized Blazer: Express founded in the Thirft Store for $3 Dress: H&M Accessories: Forever21

After the play we had dinner with our significant others at WildWood BBQ. It was my first time there and it was not bad I mean nothing compares to down south BBQ but for New York it will do.

Yummy appe. the chipotle bbq wings was the best.

My favorite place in Brooklyn has to be Brooklyn Promenade it has a breath-taking view of the city, the statue of libery and of course the brooklyn bridge.

above the brooklyn promenade below is the BQE

good night

D.I.Y wedding invitations

My only beloved sister is planning to get married this June. She has appointed me to be her maid of honor and wedding planner. I just love weddings in general .. to be part of someone's special day is always a great thing to witness. Reality is kicking in and we have less than 3 1/2 months left before my sister ties the knot. I finally finished the wedding invitations and I took it upon myself to do everything on my own. Being that it was my first time doing wedding invitations I think I did good. It's a very simple, modern, and sophisticated invitations and I'm sure my sister will love it.

dining table became my work space

I bought all my supplies at Paper Presentation on w.18th street btw 5th & 6th av. This store is amazing. I was literally there for hours just wandering around and looking at all the amazing supplies they offer.

Did I mention I have 3 1/2 months before my sister's wedding! wow! I can't believe it's almost here and I still can't believe I haven't purchased my maid of honor dress. My sister was kind of enough to allow me to pick my own dress as long it coordinates with her wedding colors which is pastel blue & silver. I did search on the web and I found a couple of dresses I liked but haven't got a chance to try any of them on. Let me know what you guys think about the dresses. :)

The Season of Lent

Quick Post:

Lent is a forty-day preparation for Easter. The word "Lent" actually means fasting. Christians prepare for Easter by observing a period of repentance, fasting, and spiritual discipline. For this year I decided to give up profanity. Every time I curse I add a dollar to a pot and towards the end of Lent season the money collected in the pot I will donate it to my church. Sounds fair.

Another restriction is Christians are forbidden to eat meat on Friday. This is one of those moments I wish I was back in New Orleans. So many selections on seafood and especially crawfish season is very active. In order to get my N.O. fix I prepared shrimp po-boys for dinner. I must say it came out extremely delicious and it reminded me of home. Thanks to New Orleans Cuisine for posting a wonderful shrimp po-boy recipe.

**Edit
Oh yes, tomorrow Sonia Rykiel's line for H&M will be released. Unfortunately I will be working this weekend but I do hope I get a chance to grab some items on my next day off.

Nightstand Reading Material

No work tonight .. It's snowing outside .. Catching up on my reading .. I love my nice warm cozy bed.

Elle magazine March 2010, Lewis Carroll: "Alice's Adventures In Wonderland and
Through The Looking-Glass", and Nicholas Sparks: "Dear John"

Books are another source of entertainment for me and I enjoy reading before I go to bed. I find that reading  also clears my mind especially if I had a stressful day. One of my favorite books to read are books into movies .. if that makes sense. So two movies that I am highly interested and excited to watch and read are out or coming to a theater  .. before I can visit the box office I better finish my books.

can't wait :)

Snow Day

So we got about a total of 16-18 inches of snow in Brooklyn .. it started Tuesday night and finished early this morning. Unfortunately i am one of those unlucky people who doesn't receive snow days .. so yes i had to work last night during the blizzard. I guess that's the negative side working in a hospital .. blizzard or not .. i have to go. I hope the people who didn't have school or work enjoyed their day off .. lucky bastards.

Didn't have the energy to build a 6ft. snowman like my neighbors but I managed to make a mini-snowman.
(eyes and buttons courtesy of my dog's food, carrot, and mardi gras beads)

Yves Saint Laurent : Tribute Sandals

Wannabe YSL. The other day I found a pair of platform heals for dirt cheap .. it was originally $75 but since Filene's Basement on 6th avenue was closing down I got it for $10. I can't wait to wear it when
the weather is a bit warmer or at least when it stops snowing.

37 days more till spring .. sigh :(

Destiny!

Saints Superbowl CHAMPIONS!!! who dat!!!
Wow! It took 43 years to get us to the Superbowl and I am proud to be alive to witness such success. It's probably the most memorable, heart-warming, and magical moment that you don't often see in sports. Some of you may think it's not a big deal and it's just a game but honestly for the city of New Orleans its more than a game. The Saints have given the city Hope, Courage, Confidence, Determination, and Unity. We Belive. We Accomplished. It was DESTINY!!!

Sweeet Deals

I'm all about bargain shopping .. I mean who isn't? When I'm not shopping at thrift stores or consignment shops I love checking out H&M especially during their seasonal sales. I got 4 items for $30 and I was pretty lucky to find versatile pieces to add to my wardrobe. I purchased a sheer beige over-sized tunic, a thin strap shell pastel pink dress, black high waist skirt, and a knitted long sweater. My favorite piece has to be the dress .. I'll probably wear it for v-day with a boyfriend blazer.

I love my Dunkin Donut Iced Coffee :) Sweeet !!!
