m.i.a

It's been almost two weeks since my last post and I know I'm overdue for one. To be honest work has been consuming much of my time. My work schedule consist of graveyard shifts, working weekends, and only having one night off. My body/mind is physically exhausted and all I want to do on my spare time is SLEEP. Which explains the m.i.a status with my postings.

Well I have next weekend off and I been also busy planning my trip to Washington D.C. My best friend will be in town so we're planning to check out the Cherry Blossom Festival. I can't wait to take pictures I just love how beautiful the trees are. Any restaurant suggestions around the D.C. area we should check out?? preferably cheap good eats :)

Anyways, I better get to bed unfortunately I have work tonight .. more babies to deliver :) Current song in my head is Train: Hey Soul Sister so I'll leave you a little something. Video sucks but the music is great. Enjoy.

my 1st wedding video

QUICK POST:

Last month I was hired by my co-worker to be her photographer for her wedding day. I must admit I was nervous but I was pretty excited at the same time. This was my 1st wedding shoot EVER and I had so much fun. I managed to make a small amateur video of the pictures I took. Please keep in mind I'm a beginner and I know I have tons of stuff to learn. I hope you guys enjoy and this won't be the last. I have future projects to come so stay tuned :)

Jersey! Jersey!

We headed to Jersey for some afternoon fun at Mitsuwa Marketplace. Mitsuwa Marketplace is a huge japanese supermarket that features restaurants and speciality stores. I was pretty excited to taste some cheap good eats.

When you enter the marketplace there is a huge food court area that displays all the food you can order.

Decided to share with the bf .. we ordered yaki udon soup, teriyaki hamburger steak, and gyoza

After dinner we walked around to check out what was available

Conjuring my Inner Martha

Another hobby of mine is cooking and baking. It's such a rewarding, relaxing, and stress-free activity that I enjoy doing. My co-worker's birthday is today and I wanted to do something nice for her since she's the best. I baked a flan(Creme caramel) with a yellow cake layer. Crème caramel also known as flan is a very sweet dessert. I usually bake it with a yellow cake layer because it reduces the sweetness and I feel both items compliments each other.

Leche Flan Cake Recipe

For the caramel
1 cup regular white sugar
1/4 cup water
Pinch of cream of tartar

For the flan
6 egg yolks
1 whole egg
1 cup evaporated milk
1 cup condensed milk

Yellow Cake Mix

- Preheat oven for 350 degrees.
- In a large pan on medium-low heat add the caramel ingredients together (make sure not to stir after everything is melted together because you dont want to disturb the cooking process .. cook till it turns semi-yellow).
- While your waiting for your mixture to cook go ahead and start on your flan and cake mix.
- Medium bowl add the flan mixture and whisk ingredients together
- Cake Mix (Follow box instructions)
- When Caramel mixture is cooked add it to your baking pan. Lined the baking pan with the caramel mixture be careful pan will get extremely hot.
- Add the flan mixture.
- Next layer add Cake mix carefully .. try to distribute the cake mix evenly without shaking the pan.
- Bake for a hour in a water bath
- When baking process is finished transfer flan to a serving platter (carefully)
- Refrig. the cake for about 2 hours before serving
- Garnish with raspberries
- ENJOY!

spring.

The best thing about living here in n.y is being able to experience the different types of season. Back home in Louisiana it was pretty much summer-hot, summer-humid, summer-steaming, and fall-cold. Well .. maybe I'm exagerating. Anyways, we're finally getting spring weather and I must say it's been fantastic. I'm sure we can all agree that winter should be dunzo and it's time to make way for spring.

It's been awhile since I have gone to St. Patrick's Cathedral and I ended up attending late mass today. This cathedral is so unique and beautiful. I just love the gothic-style architectural features that the cathedral has. We managed to go to there early so I snap a few pics to show you guys the amazing interior.

Good eats in L.E.S. If you don't want to travel all the way to Philly to have an authentic cheese steak I would recommend checking out 99 miles to Philly

cheap and good.
