Conjuring my Inner Martha

Another hobby of mine is cooking and baking. It's such a rewarding, relaxing, and stress-free activity that I enjoy doing. My co-worker's birthday is today and I wanted to do something nice for her since she's the best. I baked a flan(Creme caramel) with a yellow cake layer. Crème caramel also known as flan is a very sweet dessert. I usually bake it with a yellow cake layer because it reduces the sweetness and I feel both items compliments each other.

Leche Flan Cake Recipe

For the caramel
1 cup regular white sugar
1/4 cup water
Pinch of cream of tartar

For the flan
6 egg yolks
1 whole egg
1 cup evaporated milk
1 cup condensed milk

Yellow Cake Mix

- Preheat oven for 350 degrees.
- In a large pan on medium-low heat add the caramel ingredients together (make sure not to stir after everything is melted together because you dont want to disturb the cooking process .. cook till it turns semi-yellow).
- While your waiting for your mixture to cook go ahead and start on your flan and cake mix.
- Medium bowl add the flan mixture and whisk ingredients together
- Cake Mix (Follow box instructions)
- When Caramel mixture is cooked add it to your baking pan. Lined the baking pan with the caramel mixture be careful pan will get extremely hot.
- Add the flan mixture.
- Next layer add Cake mix carefully .. try to distribute the cake mix evenly without shaking the pan.
- Bake for a hour in a water bath
- When baking process is finished transfer flan to a serving platter (carefully)
- Refrig. the cake for about 2 hours before serving
- Garnish with raspberries
- ENJOY!
